We are deeply saddened to announce that Prof. Sayan Mukherjee, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Bulletin of Computer and Data Sciences (BCDS), passed away on 31 March 2025.
Prof. Mukherjee was an internationally respected mathematician, statistician, and computer scientist whose work spanned statistical learning, machine learning, topological data analysis, and high-dimensional data analysis, with impactful applications in biology and medicine.
As the founding Editor-in-Chief of BCDS, he played a decisive role in shaping the journal’s vision—promoting rigorous, open, and interdisciplinary research in computer and data sciences. His intellectual leadership, generosity with students and colleagues, and unwavering commitment to scientific excellence will be profoundly missed.
The Editorial Board, authors, and readers of BCDS extend their deepest condolences to Prof. Mukherjee’s family, friends, and collaborators. In gratitude and respect, the journal will continue to uphold the high standards and values he championed.
